On April 22, Gershow Recycling sponsored and took part in the Medford Earth Day event at Medford Memorial Park. Jonathan Abrams, Manager, Gershow Recycling, was on hand to give out magnets, hats, coloring books, newsletters and reusable tote bags and show children the different types of scrap metal that Gershow recycles. Approximately 150 people were in attendance.

Gershow donated $1,200 to sponsor the event. The funds benefitted the Medford Civic Association — one of the event’s co-hosts — and will be used for additional beautification projects in the community.

Since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated to address growing concerns about the environment and how it can be protected. The event was hosted by the Office of Suffolk County Legislator Rob Calarco, the Medford Chamber of Commerce, the Medford Fire Department and the Office of Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley.

Gershow has nine locations in Brooklyn, New Hyde Park, Valley Stream, Freeport, Lindenhurst, Huntington Station, Bay Shore, Medford and Riverhead. For more information, call (631) 289-6188.
