Gershow Opens Scrap Yard to
Local High School Robotics Teams

Gershow Recycling Donates $1,000 towards Toy Drive for Lighthouse Mission’s Christmas Gift-Giving Program

Gershow Manager Jonathan Abrams with Motorola Solutions' Electrical Engineer Cel Alem, Patchogue-Medford High School Robotics Team Advisor and Dean of Students Kevin Ray, and Patchogue-Medford High School Robotics Team Captain Kate Clark.

For the third year in a row, Gershow Recycling opened its scrap yard to local high school robotics teams who needed aluminum scrap. Eight teams came to Gershow's Medford facility on January 21 to pick up scrap to construct their 130-pound robots that will compete in the 13th annual Long Island FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition (FRC) on March 29-31 at Hofstra University.

The teams included Connetquot, Hauppauge, Hicksville, Lindenhurst, Patchogue-Medford, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Smithtown and Westhampton Beach.
