Gershow Recycling Donates Aluminum Scrap to Westhampton Beach Robotics Team

Jonathan Abrams, Manager, Gershow Recycling; Ashley Petersen and her father, Erik Petersen, Mentor, Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team; and Tony Kryl, Team Leader, Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team.

For the fourth year in a row, Gershow Recycling opened its Medford facility to local high school robotics teams participating in the School-Business Partnerships of Long Island’s (SBPLI) upcoming Long Island FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition to receive free aluminum scrap. Westhampton Beach was one of 12 Long Island high school robotics teams that took advantage of the program and visited Gershow on January 19.

Members of the Westhampton Beach robotics team will use the aluminum scrap and its kit of parts to help them build a 120-pound robot. They will have six weeks to construct the robot and prepare for the upcoming competition. The Westhampton Beach High School robotics team thanked Gershow for its support.

Gershow has eight locations in Brooklyn, New Hyde Park, Valley Stream, Freeport, Lindenhurst, Huntington Station, Bay Shore and Medford. For more information, call (631) 289-6188 or visit www.gershow.com.
