In support of local Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services crews and local high schools, Gershow Recycling donated a vehicle that was used in an extrication demonstration on June 1 at Bayport-Blue Point High School. Phil Turano, Driver’s Education Instructor, brought his class to the extrication so students can learn what is involved in removing a crash victim from a vehicle.

During the demonstration, students saw firefighters use the "Jaws of Life” and other firefighting tools on the vehicle and extricate a "victim” from a vehicle involved in a "crash.” Members of the Patchogue Ambulance Corps "transported” the victim to the "hospital.”

After the demonstration, firefighters answered students’ questions about the procedure. Bayport-Blue Point High School thanked Gershow for its generous donation.
