In support of local Fire Departments, Gershow Recycling donated 60 vehicles for "Gone in 6 Hours,” which was held October 20 at the 4 Towns Training Center in Merrick. The event was hosted by the North Merrick Fire Department, Genesis Rescue Systems and Nassau Fire Apparatus. Proceeds went to benefit the North Merrick Fire Department Scholarship Fund.
"Gone in 6 Hours” is an educational seminar in which firefighters from local fire departments performed extrications on the vehicles provided by Gershow under six different scenarios: advanced vehicle stabilization; vehicle over a Jersey barrier, severe side-impact collisions; flapping vehicle floors; air bags; and vehicles underneath a tractor trailer. The North Merrick Fire Department and the participating firefighters thanked Gershow Recycling for their generous donation and unique firefighting opportunities.
