Gershow Recycling Hosts Multi-Departmental Rescue
Training Exercise At Huntington Station Facility

Gershow Recycling staff joins local elected officials, firefighters and first responders at Gershow’s facility at Huntington Station during a multi-departmental fire rescue training exercise on May 2. Standing behind the Gershow banner are (left to right): Charles Keeling, Safety Director, Gershow Recycling (white golf shirt); Richard D’Angelo, Manager, Gershow’s Huntington Station facility; Jonathan Abrams, Manager, Gershow Recycling; Huntington Town Council Members Mark Mayoka and Susan Berland (center); Kevin Gershowitz, President, Gershow Recycling; and Steven Rossetti, Community Liaison, Gershow Recycling.
In support of local fire departments and the Huntington community, Gershow Recycling hosted a multi-departmental rescue training exercise at its facility in Huntington Station on May 2. Gershow provided the bus and the vehicles and also prepared the accident scene for the rescuers. The drill was coordinated by Assistant Chief Robert Berry of the Huntington Fire Department.
Approximately 125-150 volunteer firefighters and first responders from fire departments, ambulance corps, the Huntington Community First Aid Squad, Commack Ambulance Corps, Suffolk County Police Aviation and Huntington Hospital participated in an exercise in which they had to extricate and treat “victims” that were hurt in a “crash” involving a large-passenger public transportation vehicle and two passenger vehicles. After the exercise ended, the vehicle was shredded and recycled.
