To support local high school robotics teams participating in the
School-Business Partnerships of Long Island's (SBPLI) upcoming Long Island
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics
Competition, Gershow Recycling invited teams to its Medford facility to
receive free aluminum scrap. Connetquot, Deer Park, Baldwin, Great Neck South, Wheatley, Freeport, Oceanside, Hauppauge, and Longwood were the nine Long Island high
school robotics teams that took advantage of the program and visited Gershow
on January 22.
Members of the robotics teams will use the aluminum scrap and its
kit of parts to help them build a 130-pound robot. They will have six weeks
to construct the robot and prepare for the upcoming competition. The
high school robotics teams thanked Gershow for its support.
